Connecting the World Through Amateur Theatre

Paddy O’Dwyer, RIP

It is with great sadness that AITA/IATA informs its members of the death of former AITA/IATA President Paddy O’Dwyer from Ireland. Paddy had been part of AITA/IATA for many years. He was the Co-ordinator for Children and Youth on the AITA/IATA Executive Board and was elected President in Masan, Korea in 2007.

When elected, he said it was a privilege to assume the role of President of AITA/IATA asbl and while it was a daunting task it was also a wonderful opportunity that he was willing to accept. He saw his role as working towards consensus and, while there was always a special atmosphere and lively debate when the Council met, he hoped to do all to facilitate fruitful meetings and to maintain that positive spirit of cooperation and collaboration.  His tenure as President ended in 2011 in Tromsǿ, Norway.

The notice of the funeral and a link to the Webstream of the Funeral Service can be found HERE. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday 3 September from 11:00 Irish time at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook followed by burial at Kilmashogue Cemetery. The family request no flowers please but donations, if desired, to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This organisation works for social justice and strives for an Ireland without poverty where everyone can meet their basic needs, access opportunities and live with dignity.

Rest in Peace Paddy

Let the World See You!

We are amateur theatre!

Do you have a performance, a workshop, a festival or theatre event coming up? Would you or your group like to host the Weareamateurtheatre Instagram page for one week?

The Instagram page Weareamateurtheatre exists to celebrate and share activities that are happening all over the world through amateur theatre.

The International Amateur Theatre Association (AITA/IATA) has created an Instagram account for amateur theatre companies around the globe to showcase yourselves for a week at a time - let the whole world see what you are doing, share your theatre activities, celebrate amateur theatre and meet other theatre makers.

If you have a big event or a week packed with rehearsals and/or performances coming up, book the Weareamateurtheatre Instagram page for your use and let us meet you and learn a bit about you and how you make theatre.
