Travel to Saint John, New Brunswick Canada:
Due to the geographical location of Saint John, New Brunswick in Canada, it is anticipated that all participants will arrive via air travel. Here are some things that the Saint John organisers recommend that you consider:
1) Our airport code is “YSJ”
This is very important as there is another Canadian city of a similar name: St. John’s Newfoundland. In the past we have had visitors make the mistake of booking travel to the wrong airport. MOST FLIGHTS PASSING THROUGH HUBS BELOW ARRIVE IN SAINT JOHN VERY LATE IN THE EVENING.
2) There are no direct international flights to Saint John (YSJ)
For international travellers there are three main airport options with connections to YSJ.
I’ll list them in order of convenience:
a. Montreal, Quebec: Airport code YUL
Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport
This is likely the best option as it is a large international airport with lots of amenities such as shops and restaurants. It also has regular flights to all major transportation hubs. It is also relatively close to Saint John (YSJ) with several flights per day between the two cities.
b. Toronto, Ontario: Airport code YYZ
Pearson International Airport
Pearson airport is likely a bigger and better airport but it is further to the west than is the Montreal (YUL) airport. This means a longer flight from European destinations and longer connecting flight to Saint John (YSJ). The overall travel can be significantly longer as a result.
c. Halifax, Nova Scotia: Airport code: YHZ
Stanfield International Airport
This airport is geographically the closest to Saint John (YSJ) and has a very short flight between the two cities. However, the flights tend to be unpredictable and easily cancelled due to bad weather. Also, the planes for this route are extremely small sometimes holding no more than 20 passengers. This would make travel arrangements difficult for a large group.
